1. Set Up a Workout Corner

With that said, there are plenty of reasons why you may not be able to make it to the gym—bad weather, busy schedule, etc. If that’s the case, it’s good to set up an area in your home that you can use to work out. That way, you’ll always be able to get some exercise in.

This can be as small as one of the corners of a room. All you need is a mat and some free weights! Use this space when you can’t make it to the gym or if you need some ‘you’ time.

Trying to fit in time to exercise can be stressful, but having a space that is designated for self-care can change your attitude toward fitness and keep you motivated.

2. Add Five More Minutes

For example, you can do a five-minute stretch in the morning or go for a five-minute walk in the afternoon. You can also add an extra five minutes to your workout and give it all you have. Committing five minutes every day will not force you to rearrange your schedule, and it’ll make you feel like you pushed yourself in the right direction.

3. Explore the Outdoors

Going to the gym regularly is important, but you can also incorporate more fitness into your life by exploring the outdoors. During the summer months, it may be tricky since the heat can make exercising more intense, but autumn is a great time to incorporate physical activity outside.

You can go for a hike, ride your bike to the gym or do some yoga in the park. This will feel less like ‘exercise’ and more like a relaxing way to spend your time during nice weather. Grab some friends and plan weekend activities that get your body moving.

If the holidays are approaching, create a plan to not derail from all the progress you’ve made. This can mean incorporating walks during family visits or not rushing for seconds during thanksgiving. Use the anticipation of the festivities as motivation to make fitness a priority until then.

6. Join a Challenge

Holding yourself accountable for maintaining fitness goals can be difficult, especially if going to the gym doesn’t come easy for you. An easy way to get your body moving and push yourself to be consistent is to commit to a challenge of some kind.

There are plenty of 30-day fitness challenges that you can start with. You can do a quick online search or talk to the right gym and see if they have any challenges you can sign up for. You’ll also meet people who are in the same boat as you and having a social circle invested in a healthy lifestyle will keep you motivated.

7. Eat Right

This tip is a bit of a cheat because it isn’t directly related to working out, but it’s crucial for fitness. You’ll want to create a weight loss meal plan to get the results you want. This means eating plenty of whole foods and cutting back on anything that’s processed.
